Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

I don't even remember correctly as to when I wrote the last blog. Quantitatively it has absolutely no significance, but qualitatively, I know what it means. Nothing connects me more to myself than writing my mind into this space.

Anyway, better late than never and thanks to "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" that brought me back here.

India -> Home Sweet home; Katrina -> Class; Time Paas -> Facebook;
Javed Akhtar -> Talafuuuusss; Farhan Akhtar -> Friendship...

Well! These are nothing but result of a random self test for the first reactive word (right of the Arrow) that came immediately after uttering the first word.

Yeah, undoubtedly, Friendship is the most common word that I can associate with Farhan Akhtar, be it "Dil Chahta Hai (DCH)" or "Rock On"; friendship has made him twice lucky with National award and so does he try this time with obvious but tested story line.

Categorically, movie based on such topic has an advantage as it easily succeeds in transmitting the feeling to the audience because at the end, our experience are the same, we are raised like everyone else with friends to count on, our misunderstandings are similar and we love no differently.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is based on the 3 leads and camaraderie with usual high and lows of the friendship, emotional banter and romance with their leading ladies.

Hrithik looks amazing with his toned body and skin tight designer outfits. Katrina adds the cosmetic edge to the movie but its Farhan Akhtar who deserve the applause throughout the show.

His self written dialogue becomes alive with his perfect sense of humour and natural expressions. His effort for soft humour with "Bagwati" looks so real on screen.

In addition, Farhan's voice does justice to beautifully written poem by his Dad, Javed Akhtar. I liked the timing and the way poems have been used in movie which eventually has given a sensible and romantic dimension to the movie.

Post intermission, movie pulls you off the track with typical Bollywood spiced emotional plot of "Hero ka Asli Baap koi aur hai". Though movie is mainly targeted for multiplex audience but it seems Zoya did not want to exclude the Non-Multiplex audience either and so did she not take any chance by leaving out those usual Bollywood touch.

Apart from that, several times, I clearly felt the visual disconnect between the three leads. Abhay Deol (not for AD fans) made me recall Saif Ali Khan from DCH who acted perfectly as connect between the two protagonists in addition to the justice he did to his own screen time. But then, SAK may have been a budget issue for this role.

If I try to be little soft on my take, I would rather prefer to blame Farhan as he himself has set his standard so high that you always expect nothing but the perfection from him.

Overall, ZNMD does not have those DCH type ROFL moments or even musical edge but it guarantees to take you into adventure mode with loads of thrills and scenic Spain with awesome cinematography.

One of the Poem from the movie:
