Wow! Another year gone. So quickly.
Memories of “New Year Eve” is still afresh in mind when parking problem kept us wondering in Miami downtown until we decided to head towards South beach.
Oh Boy! Have seen Miami in multi colours before, but had never ever witnessed Miami like that night. You got to walk on Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue on a “New Year Eve” to know, what it means.
There after, time has passed so quickly that sometime it makes me wonder, has the year really ended?
It’s really difficult to count the memories and blessing that has filled my life this year. However, on the last day of this year, feels like summarizing the year with few labels.
Travel:
The year that was full of travel; California to almost entire East coast. Back home, multiple visits to North (Chandigarh) and East (Calcutta). Thanks to some last moment decision change in project, else I could have made few visits to South too (Chennai). Having said that, it was fun exploring new places and I could meet most of my friends\relatives this year, whom I had not met for years.
How can I really forget some driving bloopers from these trips? To name a few of the high picks:
> July trip: Can’t forget Naveen’s wrong side drive just after picking Ashish at La-Gaurdia Airport, NY. Cops crossed us from other side in less than 10sec. Rest of us were still enjoying homemade Pau-Bhaaji at the backseat. Lol.
> Oct trip: Gift for driving at 90+ miles\hour in New Hampshire. Getting ticket was not as funny as getting to know after approx a month that amount was not $36 rather it was $361. Naveen, without any doubt – “you are a certified driver now :)”.
Having talked about trips, it would be unfair to not give the credit to myself for reaching Airport on time. Except once, this year, I boarded all the flights before Airlines guys had to make boarding announcement for me.
Corruption:
Wow! What a year this has been. CWG, Adarsh Housing scam, 2G, LIC Housing, and now the CITY bank to end the year on a continued note. To get a quantitative figure of the amount would need few days to even reach near to some expected value of all scams.
The highlights of these scams have been the diversity of the class of people involved in. While CWG was majorly political, Adarsh Society scam, in addition to ever green politicians, brought the high profile Defence personals into picture.
2G widened the horizon and now Corporate is not very far away from scams. LIC housing has exposed another black side of Corporate functioning at micro level and last but not the least recent City Bank scam has added another colourful feather to the cap.
What a diverse scenarios; now we are truly achieving “Inclusive Corruption”.
A nation where people from every segment getting involved in. Hats off to us!!!
Wish there could be a “PHOREN” award for corruption; without any dispute, we Indians would deserve the award every year.
Crime Capital:
Delhi has once again established itself as crime capital. I have hardly been in Delhi in 2010, but whatever little time I have been here, every day on front page of news I see some open robbery, murder story or a rape news. This is endless. Again, who is to be blamed remains a cyclic question.
Will this ever get better? Expecting “Yes” is height of optimism.
Well, as I said, its really difficult to summarize the entire year into few lines; however it was great spending some time going down the memory lane.
Finally, when the new year is hardly few hours away, it’s time to say Good-Bye to 2010 and thanks to every one for making this year truly memorable.
Let’s welcome this New Year with loads of hope and fresh energy.
